Chief External Affairs Officer
Barbara Hoffman joined Heartland Alliance in October 2016 as the Chief External Affairs Officer. In this role, Ms. Hoffman leads the development, engagement, communications and marketing functions across the Alliance, ensuring the integration of these efforts as well as alignment with the organization’s vision; core values; and strategy for greater impact.
Ms. Hoffman brings over twenty years of experience in the public and non-profit sectors. She comes to Heartland Alliance following a distinguished 15-year career at the Ounce of Prevention Fund, where she helped develop the positioning and organizational strategy for the national early childhood organization and managed fundraising and external relations. Prior to the Ounce, Ms. Hoffman served as Director of Development at the Oakland County Schools Intermediate School District in southeast Michigan, and held positions at the Dekalb County Community Development Department and the U.S. Department of Education.
Ms. Hoffman has a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Georgia and a bachelor’s degree in urban studies from the University of Michigan. She became a Certified Fund Raising Executive in 2016.
