Families Building Community

Families Building Community (FBC) provides supportive services for families in their transition from shelter to permanent housing. FBC uses a strengths-based family case management model, providing intensive, home-based case management services, a rental subsidy for twelve months, and twelve months of follow-up case management. Families are housed in scattered-site, market-rate apartments in communities throughout Chicago.

Eligibility Criteria
  • Must meet HUD definition of homeless
  • Must be able to provide written documentation of homeless status
  • Head of household must be 18 or older
  • Head of household must have one child under the age of 18

Monthly rent based on income.

All applicants for the FBC program are pulled from the Central Referral System.  Please complete application via www.chicagocrs.org

Bilingual Spanish-speaking staff in program.
