ED STELLON NAMED EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF HEARTLAND HEALTH OUTREACH
CHICAGO – (January 26, 2016) – Ed Stellon was named Executive Director of Heartland Alliance Health, a subsidiary of Heartland Alliance, on January 18, after serving as interim director during 2015. In this role Stellon will lead the division, which delivers services at health centers and outpatient and residential locations as well as outreach programs at more than 120 area homeless shelters. Each year, Heartland Alliance Health serves the health needs of thousands of medically underserved people, filling major gaps in the region’s healthcare system.
“Ed brings a strong track record of effective and innovative work in substance use, mental health, primary care, homeless service systems, behavioral health treatment, supportive housing, and food and nutrition,” said Evelyn Diaz, President of Heartland Alliance. “It makes perfect sense that a leader with Ed’s experience, expertise and true dedication to those seeking safety, healing and justice would take on this role.”
Stellon, who has a 24-year tenure with Heartland Alliance, has served in a number of different role, advancing work in supportive and specialty services, with particular successes in systems integration and training and technical assistance programs. Before joining Heartland Alliance, Ed was a counselor at Interventions / Northside Clinic where he initiated the organization’s first HIV prevention activities for its methadone maintenance participants. Ed received his Bachelors of Arts from the University of Minnesota, a Master of Science degree in human services administration from Spertus Institute, and a Master of Arts in counseling from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology.
