Healthy Smiles, Healthy Growth Report
During the 2013-2014 school year, the Oral Health Forum (OHF) in collaboration with the Illinois Department of Public Health and other partners, completed the Healthy Smile, Healthy Growth (HSHG) project, an assessment of the oral health and overweight/obese status of third grade children in Illinois. Findings revealed that dental carries and obesity continue to be important health problems affecting a significant segment of Illinois third grade population. Nevertheless, results revealed positive trends for both oral health and growth status in the last decade.
