Urban Farm Volunteer Day

June 16 @ 9:00 am - 11:00 am

Chicago FarmWorks, Heartland Alliance’s urban farm in the Englewood community, fights two issues associated with poverty: unemployment and hunger. Utilizing a two acre farm in the East Garfield Park neighborhood, we distribute local produce of the highest quality to those who need it most, and help people overcoming multiple barriers to employment find full-time, permanent, viable jobs.

We invite community members to join us on the farm to volunteer. Get your hands dirty, have fun, and learn more about urban agriculture!

Volunteer days will be held the third Sunday of the month from 9AM-12PM. Please join us on the dates listed below.

Sunday, June 16, 9AM-11AM
Sunday, July 21, 9AM-11AM
Sunday, August 18, 9AM-11AM
Sunday, September 15, 9AM-11AM
Sunday, October 20, 9AM-11AM
Sunday, November 17, 9AM-11AM
Please dress for the weather and bring water, snacks, and sunscreen.

The farm is located at 407 N. Kedzie Ave. There is a small shaded area, portable bathroom, and running water at the site, but facilities are limited.

No RSVP needed for individuals or small groups. For groups of more than 5, or in case of questionable weather, please contact Jessica at 312-848-4666 or jsurma@heartlandalliance.org.
