Refugee Youth & Family Services' (YFS) mission is to build a bridge for recently arrived refugee and asylee youth to their new American communities. YFS anticipates and responds to their needs by advocating for their rights, promoting self-advocacy, and fostering respect for themselves, their heritage, and their academic and artistic achievements. Services include K-12 academic assistance, substance abuse prevention education, youth leadership development, and family strengthening classes.



Services Offered:
  • K-12 academic assistance services (school registrations, volunteer tutor placement, in-services, and advocacy)
  • Prevention education and homework assistance
  • Youth leadership development
  • Family strengthening classes
   
Eligibility Criteria:
  • Must have refugee status and have arrived within past three years
  • Must be between the ages of 5 and 18 or be the legal guardian of a child being served
  • Must be between the ages of 13 and 18 to participate in the youth leadership development program (refugee status is not required to participate)

Business hours: Monday – Friday 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Hours for youth programming vary each semester and during the summer program. Please call for more information.
