A New Life In a New Homeland
“I wanted to finish school and live the American Dream,” says Chenge, an immigrant from Zimbabwe who fled his home country to escape torture. “There’s a lot of worry when you don’t know if you can stay in this safe place and stabilize your life.” Heartland Alliance helped him gain asylum, obtain a visa, prepare for and find a job, and integrate into American culture.

WIA is designed to assist both job seekers and hiring organizations with various employment services. These services are tailored to enable the job seeker to acquire and retain employment. WIA services are provided to assist in the improvement of the quality of the workforce, reduce the need for public assistance, and enhance the productivity and competitiveness of the nation.

Eligibility Criteria:	• Verification of employability in U.S. • At least 18 years of age • A Social Security Number • Proof of Selective Service Registration (males only) • Low Income • Resident of Cook County

Directions:	Cermak Pace Bus 322 (1 block), connects to Pink Line. Austin CTA or PACE bus (3 blocks), connects to Pink Line, Blue Line, Green Line, and Metra BNSF LaVergne Station. There will be an Illinois workNet sign on the door. Parking is also available to the north of the entrance lot just behind the building. Upon entering, turn to the left and go through a glass door. Take the elevator on your right to the 3rd floor.
