Women of Ethiopia - Community Advancement for Recovery and Empowerment (WE-CARE) Program

Bookmark and Share

Heartland Alliance is collaborating with Ethiopian partner Bright Image for Generation Association (BIGA) to implement a two year, three month USAID-funded program 'Women of Ethiopia - Community Advancement for Recovery and Empowerment' (WE-CARE). WE–CARE endeavors to empower and protect economically and socially vulnerable women by providing economic opportunities, education and psychosocial support services. WE–CARE engages and organizes poor women into community led Self Help Groups (SHGs) that serve as a platform for economic and social empowerment activities. Additionally, WE–CARE provides psychosocial support to women and children suffering from trauma and depression caused by domestic violence, sexual harassment, rape, poverty or by other social and economic factors.
