Residential Mental Health and Addiction Services for People Who Are Homeless

Residential Mental Health and Addiction Services for People Who Are Homeless provides residential services tailored to meet the complex needs of people who have a history of homelessness, a serious mental illness, and, often, a co-occurring substance use disorder. On-site staff support is provided for 90 single-room-occupancy units (46 units are supervised 24 hours a day; 44 are staffed 12-14 hours a day). In addition, we manage scattered-site units throughout Uptown whose residents receive case management services through Heartland Alliance or other mental health providers in the community. Our approach is based on the philosophy of harm reduction: abstinence from alcohol and other drugs is not required in order to be eligible for housing.

  • Access to benefits and entitlements
  • Linkage to primary care and dental services
  • Psychiatric assessment and medication
  • Skills and therapy groups for those with a mental illness or dual disorder

  • Off-site social and cultural activities

All sites are close to public transportation, parks, and Lake Michigan
