Refugee & Immigrant Community Services – Refugee Resettlement & Placement Program

The Refugee Resettlement & Placement program provides resettlement assistance to newly arrived refugees. Services include picking them up at the airport, securing housing, purchasing food and household items, and providing initial orientation during the first 90 days in the US. The program also provides referrals to mental and physical health providers, third-party mediation, pre-arrival conference with relatives, and affidavits of relationship to reunite families.

  • Referrals to internal and external resources (health clinic, social security office, English classes)
  • Acculturation orientations
  • Transportation assistance
   
Eligibility Criteria:
  • Must be identified by U.S. Department of State as a refugee and have I-94 Refugee Documentation
  • Must be granted asylum by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services
  • Must be certified as survivor of torture or victim of trafficking by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services

With advanced notice, Heartland Alliance services can be provided in more than 35 different languages.
