Families Building Community

Families Building Community (FBC) provides supportive services for families in their transition from shelter to permanent housing. FBC uses a strengths-based family case management model, providing intensive, home-based case management services, a rental subsidy for twelve months, and twelve months of follow-up case management. Families are housed in scattered-site, market-rate apartments in communities throughout Chicago.

Eligibility Criteria:
  • Must meet HUD definition of homeless
  • Head of household must be 18 or older
  • Head of household must have one child under the age of 18 
   
Fees:

Monthly rent based on income.

With advanced notice, Heartland Alliance services can be provided in more than 35 different languages.
