The English Language Training (ELT) program provides English as a second language (ESL) and employment-based English classes to all recently arrived refugees, asylees, and other immigrants. The classes are designed for individuals who know little or no English and cover "survival" topics such as transportation, housing, and health care, as well as American job culture and expectations, job opportunities, filling out job applications, and interviewing skills. Sessions at 4411 North Ravenswood Avenue are offered daily for two levels (three if there is sufficient demand): beginning and intermediate. At 5551 West Belmont Avenue, there are three levels offered daily in the morning, afternoon, and evening. A bilingual conversation class also takes place on a weekly basis.
