Refugee & Immigrant Community Services – Elderly Refugee Services Project

The Elderly Refugee Services Project is focused on providing comprehensive case management to seniors through relationship building and tailored service delivery which includes referrals to internal and external entities, and providing life skills education in the English language to refugees and asylees who are 60 years of age and older. The program case manager is able to provide assistance with senior housing, benefits access, health care, home visitation, education, employment, translation services, transportation, and social outings. 

The Bright Ideas class is taught every Tuesday and Thursday afternoon from 2:30am-4:30pm at Pan-African Association (6163 N. Broadway Avenue). Family members who accompany those individuals who are over 60 years of age are also welcome.

    4411 North Ravenswood is less than a block away from the Montrose CTA Brown Line stop and the #78 Montrose bus. Street parking is available.

    EL Civics classes are held at the Pan-African Association, located at 6163 North Broadway. The Granville CTA Red Line stop is one block east of the site, and the #36 Broadway bus stops right in front of the site. Street parking is available.

    Class Times: Tuesdays and Thursdays 2:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.

    Languages spoken by staff:  Acholi, Amharic, Arabic, French, Kirundi, Polish, Portuguese, Somali, Spanish, Swahili, Tigre, and Tigrinya.

    Services provided in the following languages: Classes are conducted in English. Case management services can be provided in all of the above languages.

    With advanced notice, Heartland Alliance services can be provided in more than 35 different languages.
