Illinois Asset Building Group Conference a Great Success

The Illinois Asset Building Group would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who participated in the 2010 Statewide Conference Increasing Savings, Expanding Ownership and Protecting Consumers.

On October 14-15, 2010, over 130 advocates, policy makers, practitioners, financial institution representatives, government officials, and others came together for two exciting days of discussions and panels to address ways to promote economic security for all Illinois residents. Session topics included: Innovations for College and Retirement Savings, Credit Building as Asset Building, Building Financial Skills in Target Populations, and Strategies to Assure Quality Banking Services. In addition, a public hearing was held for all attendees and community members to provide their input and opinions on the Illinois Children's Savings Account Report.

Those who chose to complete the online evaluation were automatically entered into a raffle to win one of two prize packages consisting of a $50 savings bond, an iPod Nano, and a signed copy of conference speaker Mariko Chang's book Shortchanged: Why Women Have Less Wealth and What Can Be Done About It.
