Freedom from this barrier requires a comprehensive vision and plan.This primer will provide the tools to understand the role of opportunity and human rights in eradicating poverty.

Realizing Human Rights in Illinois: A Report on the Poverty to Opportunity Action Forums

In response to conversations and enthusiasm across the state, the From Poverty to Opportunity Campaign is advancing legislation in Illinois to create a Commission on the Elimination of Poverty in Illinois, grounded in international human rights standards, which would develop a strategic plan to cut extreme poverty in half by 2015 in Illinois. With over 250 organizations, faith communities, and governments, as well more than 1,600 individuals from every legislative district in the state, this campaign is building a movement toward change that will make freedom from poverty a reality in Illinois.
