
The National Transitional Jobs Network (NTJN) is a diverse, national coalition dedicated to advancing employment solutions for people who have difficultly entering and succeeding in work. Transitional Jobs is an employment strategy that seeks to overcome employment barriers and transition people with labor market barriers into work using wage-paid, short term employment that combines real work, skill development and supportive services.

The ARRA TANF Emergency Fund provided states an unprecedented opportunity to implement or expand Transitional Jobs and subsidized employment programs to help hundreds of thousands of low-income people get jobs, earn income, and stimulate local economies in this battered economy. The Emergency Fund is set to expire on September 30, 2010. Without an extension by Congress, states will be forced to dismantle programs or cease planning efforts soon leaving low-income people without access to earned income.
