
About MAIPThe Mid-America Institute on Poverty is the advocacy and research arm of Heartland Alliance and was established in 1989 as a vehicle for achieving systemic changes to improve the quality of life for poor and low-income individuals and families.Policy Work | Research Work | Staff Expertise The Heartland Alliance Mid-America Institute on Poverty (MAIP) coordinates and leads important state policy initiatives and provides leadership and support for other policy initiatives throughout Illinois and the nation. MAIP also has extensive experience evaluating pilot programs, analyzing policies, documenting systems, and in producing final evaluation reports that serve as a means of informing policymakers, program operators, and researchers. MAIP coordinates a number of campaigns and working groups including the Illinois Poverty Summit, the National Transitional Jobs Network, the Regional Roundtable on Homelessness, the From Poverty to Opportunity Campaign, the Illinois Asset Building Group, and the Illinois Youth - Ready for Life Project.
