Shaheena Ahmed, MD
Dr. Ahmed is a board certified pediatrician. She completed her pediatric residency at Mount Sinai Hospital in Chicago. Prior to joining HIHC, Dr. Ahmed worked in two Federally Qualified Health Centers and in private practice. Her interests include newborn medicine, maternal-infant education, and preventive medicine for school aged children. Dr. Ahmed is fluent in Urdu and Spanish and enjoys experiencing various cultures. She is enthusiastic about building up her practice at the new Heartland Pediatric Center in Lakeview.
Cheitali Bhansali, DMD
Dr. Bhansali graduated from Southern Illinois University School of Dental Medicine. She provides comprehensive oral health care and education to HIHC patients and has participated in community outreach efforts including the "Give Kids a Smile Campaign."
Laurie Carrier, MD
Dr. Carrier completed a residency in both family medicine and psychiatry at the University of Cincinnati. She holds a faculty position with the Department of Family & Community Medicine at Northwestern University's School of Medicine. Her interests include preventative health, global health, and anxiety and mood disorders.

Michael Curtis, MD
Dr. Curtis is a board certified family physician. He also teaches in the Department of Family & Community Medicine at Northwestern University's School of Medicine. His interests include women's health care, prenatal care, prevention, and medical education. Dr. Curtis has lived in Chile and speaks Spanish.

Terrence Donovan, PA
Terrence Donovan received his bachelor of science degree in physician assistant studies from Charles R. Drew University in Los Angeles. He completed clinical rotations in a number of areas including OB/GYN, pediatrics, internal medicine, geriatrics, and emergency medicine. Terrence has provided services in Rogers Park since 2003. His areas of interest include treatment of pediatric obesity and diabetes prevention, management of chronic disease, and primary care and mental health services for individuals living with HIV.

Mary Dudek, PA
Mary Dudek has been a physician assistant since 1996 and has worked in family practice, women's health, and emergency room medicine. She worked as a registered nurse in Chicago-area intensive care units and emergency rooms, including at the former Cook County Hospital. She very much enjoys meeting new patients and their families. She has a special interest in social justice and multicultural issues in Chicago and is currently studying Spanish.

Irma Esposito, MD
Dr. Esposito is a board-certified family physician and also teaches at Northwestern University's School of Medicine. She attended medical school at Finch University of Health Sciences and completed her residency at Lutheran General Hospital. She is interested in women's health, pediatrics, and preventative medicine. Dr. Esposito is passionate about providing care to the underserved and working to reduce health disparities, such as diabetes, present in the Hispanic community. She is fluent in Spanish.

Maricela Garcia, Certified Nurse Midwife
Maricela Garcia has worked in maternal child and in community for over 16 years. She received both her Bachelor's degree and Master's degree in Advanced Nursing Practice-Midwifery from University of Illinois in Chicago. Maricela has a strong interest in family planning and adolescent health. She was born and raised in the Pilsen-Little Village neighborhood of Chicago and is a native Spanish speaker.

Meera Singh, MD
Dr. Singh's love of medicine, children, and teaching all come together in her role as a board-certified pediatrician with the Heartland International Health Center. She completed her pediatric residency at the University of Nevada and worked in a private practice before joining HIHC. As a general pediatrician she focuses her practice on preventative care, childhood immunizations, childhood obesity, asthma, and allergies. Dr Singh is fluent in Hindi and Spanish. She also serves as HIHC's acting medical director and as the associate medical director for school health.

Janette Muir Smith, FNP
Janette Muir Smith is a family nurse practitioner who has worked in school health for over 10 years. She received her bachelor's degree from Rush University in Chicago and her MSN in public health nursing, specializing in family practice, from the University of Illinois in Chicago. She enjoys working with patients from different cultural backgrounds and speaks a variety of languages including Spanish, French, and Portuguese.
Madhuri Thota, MD
Dr. Thota is a board-certified family physician. She did her residency at St. Francis Hospital in Evanston and completed a fellowship in maternal and child health at West Suburban Hospital. Dr. Thota manages high-risk obstretric patients and performs C-sections. She is currently the clinical director for maternal services at Heartland International Health Center.
Anne Turner, FNP
Anne Turner has been a family nurse practitioner since 1999. She received her bachelor’s from the Medical College of Virginia and MSN from DePaul University. Also, she earned her post master’s nurse practitioner certificate from Wilmington University. Anne's work experience has been in primary care of the patient and family across the life span. She has a special interest in preventative care. Anne enjoys her collaborative relationship with the patient and family. She is passionate about the opportunities to empower the patient to achieve their health and wellness goals. She is excited to be a part of the philosophy and organization at Heartland.
