Support Iraq LGBT Safe Houses

Benefit Party at the North Star Fund
Tuesday, April 22, 2008, 6:30 – 8:30

520 Eighth Avenue, 22nd Floor
New York, NY 10018
Map

Due to lack of funding, Iraqi LGBT has been forced to shut down three safe houses in southern Iraq. These houses sheltered LGBT Iraqis receiving death threats from Islamic militias.

Help keep Iraqi LGBT’s two remaining safe houses open and protect 40 LGBT persons who need shelter, food, and medical care. Several of the Iraqis are HIV-positive and ill.

This event will include a talk by Ali Hili, the man who has developed the system of safe houses, via video hookup from London. Sean Casey, coordinator of the Global Equality Network and director of Global HIV Initiatives for Heartland Alliance for Human Needs & Human Rights, will attend from Chicago and speak about Heartland Alliance’s involvement.

Heartland Alliance's International Programs serve as Iraqi LGBT's financial and oversight agent in the US, collecting donations and sending 100% of these funds to support the safe house project. All donations are tax-deductible.

To attend, RSVP to moreinfo@heartlandalliance.org. Please include your name, phone number, and organization in the e-mail.

Please make checks payable to Heartland Alliance. Write "Iraqi LGBT" on the memo line and send to:
