Summary

Heartland Human Care Services offers emergency and long-term services to people in crisis, helping them move toward more hopeful, stable lives.

Organization

Heartland Human Care Services is the human services partner of Heartland Alliance for Human Needs & Human Rights, a service-based human rights organization that provides housing, health care, human services and human rights protections to more than 72,000 impoverished people annually.

Programs

Homeless Services and Prevention
Provides homeless, formerly homeless and at-risk Chicagoans with emergency services, homeless prevention funds, housing assistance, case management, meals, support groups and links to housing and other resources. Provides relocation services to former low-income housing residents. Also, provides support services to formerly homeless women and children through case management, housing subsidies and other services.

Employment Services
Provides comprehensive employment services including assessment, pre-employment workshops, transitional jobs, job placement, and job retention services.

Youth Services
Provides housing and a full range of social services to unaccompanied minor immigrant children, juveniles in alternative detention and homeless youth.

Services for Immigrants and Refugees
Provides housing support, adult education, employment services and cultural awareness training to immigrants and refugees adjusting to relocation in the U.S.

Violence Recovery Services
Provides counseling, legal advocacy and other services to survivors of domestic violence and human trafficking.

HIV/AIDS Related Services
Provides case management, outpatient substance abuse counseling, alternative therapies, meals, in-home care, and other support services to people living with HIV/AIDS.

Staff and Volunteers

More than 250 staff with expertise in social work, counseling, education, and
cultural integration together with more than 250 volunteers.

Funding

Funding is provided through city, state, and federal grants and contracts with contributions from individuals, civic groups, foundations, and corporations.
